Shibori Ikat Workshop August 2024
Live zoom workshop on August 24,25, and 30, 2024 10:00am -4pm EST
Learn a little about both weavings from my latest designs! Day one focuses on weaving Shibori samples with an 8 shaft draft using plant-based fibers: tencel/cotton and mixing silk. Participants can also select to prepare warp ikat and weft ikat (water motif). Day 2 is a hands-on instruction with ice dyeing woven shibori, ikat warps, and skeins. Day 3 culminates with processes of how to combine these two or add additional surface design to a woven sample with fiber reactive dyes to produce Ikat Shibori (4 shaft design). Guided live instruction with Questions and Answers. Workshop will be recorded and participants have brief access to this new course. Additional mini-videos in Dropbox allow participants to go back for an extended period to review processes (ie. how to tie an ikat wrap).
